I grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota. My parents owned a construction company and I was very fortunate to have everything provided to me with a large family of five younger brothers and one younger sister to keep things interesting. Joining the Marines in 2002, I served three tours in Iraq and a couple months in Japan on one of those tours, before finishing my enlistment and getting out in 2006. I moved around to places like Illinois and Arkansas before settling in Las Vegas, NV. Since moving here I've written and published Little Warrior Brother, a book about my first tour in Iraq and my Uncle's tour in Vietnam.
Current Project: The Soul Pan & the Soul Spent [working title]
This novel will be a futuristic fairy tale about tree spirits trapped in a scientific laboratory's containment facility. Things keep twisting in different directions so all I can say about specific aspects of the plot and general themes, is this: It's getting weird.
I don't know what I've been obsessing over or what it will reveal or how long it will take to complete. Mostly I hope the characters and their world will eventually feel as real as they have become in my head for the better part of two decades, back when the idea occurred to me.
I'm almost done with the first draft and will transition from creating characters to refining them until they feel real within the world they are forced to survive within. Then beta reading, and finally the editorial process. Or maybe the editorial process then beta reading. I've never been good at knowing what the next step is until it occurs to me so hopefully I will be back here to update this page with more relevant information to the project once I figure out what it's all about.
